Jvonndra "Punkin" Brooks-Creech serves as the Hampton County Clerk of Court, having begun service on January 7, 2025. She is a native of Hampton County with deep roots in the local court system. She worked in the Magistrate's Office from 2000 to 2007 and has served in the Clerk of Court office since 2007. Hampton County Court Docket Types

Hampton County operates several court divisions, each maintaining its own docket and case records. Knowing which court handled your case helps you search the right docket. The Clerk of Court office in Hampton manages records across all major court divisions.

Common Pleas Court handles all civil actions filed in Hampton County. This includes auto accident cases, personal injury claims, contract disputes, defective product cases, and appeals from lower courts. Both jury and non-jury cases appear on the Common Pleas docket. General Sessions Court handles criminal cases in Hampton County. The solicitor and the defendant's attorney are the principal parties in General Sessions cases. Getting Copies of Hampton County Court Records

Copies of court records from Hampton County are available at the Clerk of Court office. The fee is $0.50 per page for standard copies. Certified copies cost $1.00 per document plus the per-page copy charges. Payment must be made at the office. The Clerk of Court does not perform research on behalf of requestors, but a public terminal is available for searching land records filed after January 3, 2000.

Records from before January 3, 2000, are available in the public indexes kept at the courthouse office. For those older records, an in-person visit to the Hampton County Courthouse at 80 Elm Street is the best approach. You can also submit a written public records request under the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act, S.C. Code Ann. § 30-4-10. Hampton County business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and the office is closed on county holidays.

Child support information is not provided over the phone. You must appear in person with a valid ID or submit a written request to get child support records from Hampton County. Original Register of Deeds documents are returned in approximately 7 to 10 working days after recording.
